Statewide Descriptor Table D52 Error Correction
The D52 Error Correction table defines the correction element or the name of the element - the 'element' being a data entry field in STARS. Use these data names to make changes on the STARS S054 Error Correction screen.
Figure 1 - Descriptor table example
DATA ELEMENT # or DATA NAME
Enter the two-digit data element number or the twenty-character data name. You must define the data element number used on Descriptor Table 51 in this table. Use these data names on S054 Error Correction screen to change information within a batch.
CEN LENGTH
Enter the two-digit data element length. This length identifies the number of spaces set aside for the error correction element. Use 01, 02, etc. for values under 10.
CEN LOC
Enter the three-digit data element location. This location number identifies the location of the field on the STARS error correction screen. Use 001, 002, etc. for values under 100.
CEN LEVEL
Enter the one-character correction level code. This determines if an error (and subsequent correction elements) applies to a single detail transaction, a group of details, the batch header only, or the entire batch (header and detail).
B – Batch (change both header and detail information). See CEN DEATIL LOC below.
D – Detail (change the detail only – the first record or the identified sequence number)
G – Group of details (change all the details)
H – Header (change the header only)
CEN DETAIL LOC
Enter the three-digit detail record location. This is the location of the data element in the detail records. Use when a correction element applies to an entire batch, including header – CEN Level B.
