​Legacy: Leave Codes​

The leave code indicates at what rate the employee will accrue sick, vacation and credited state service (CSS) hours, if applicable.  The maximum amount of vacation hours an employee may accrue is also determined by the leave code.  The accrual rate for employees in multiple positions is based on the earnings for each PCN, with the maximum accrual amount based on the lowest PCN.
 
Leave codes are determined by CSS hours and FLSA code. 
 
Advancement of Leave Accruals (Schedule Change) Based on Credited State Service Hours
 
Purpose: This chart will help determine what schedule an employee should be accruing leave based on CSS hours.
 
The following leave (accrual) codes will automatically advance to the next level (example: AA advances to BA, BA to CA and CA to DA) once the required number of credit state service (CSS) hours have been met.  This action is effective on the pay period begin date following the payroll in which the required number of CSS hours have been reached.  If necessary, the leave code may be created manually using the CL change reason.

*The amount of CSS hours is based on the number of pay period hours shown on the employee's record and will be used for the length of that employee's term.  The employee will receive CSS hours if an earnings is processed that accrues CSS hours.  The earnings code must have a 'Y' on the CSS accrue indicator on the ERN directory.
 
Leave codes AE, BE, CE and DE no longer accrue sick leave. 8-19-2012
The following leave codes do not have a maximum accrual amount and requires prior approval from the Board of Examiners.
